i don't see how that's a single purpose tool. it's a grater, just with a hand crank. you can use it for tons of stuff. that said, i don't even bother with the waste of a box grater in my kitchen; i just have a single flat coarse grater to save space

It just cuts, but you can cut a lot of things.

I love them but the usefulness depends on the person. If you make a lot of coffee, tea, ramen, or just need a lot of boiling water it's worth it.

Though if you have an induction stove just get a stainless steel kettle instead

It's cool, but really a box grater is more useful. It has 4 sides with 4 different sizes or patterns and it contains that big ol pile of cheese, or cucumbers or whatever.

>box grater
Meh.
I have both a rotary grater and a Bari-style box grater. The rotary one is much, much faster and far less strenuous to use.

Good for rolling dough, and hitting your scoundrel husband with after a night drinking with the fellas, so your wrong.

they do make low-stress box graters, you know.

J'sezzin', when you grate as much shit as I do, you need to do it quickly and with no stress. Why should I spend money on a "low-stress" box grater when no-stress rotary graters exist, are likely cheaper (mine was $10, while the box grater was near $30) and box graters don't work nearly as quickly? The only benefits to my box grater, which I used the other day, actually, is it's better for juicy vegetables like beetroot because a Bari-style one has a container-part under the grate so it catches the juice with no mess and the star-shaped grate plate is better for powdering hard cheeses like parmigiano. For most-to-all other things, rotary is the way to go, IMO.
