Shit absolutely SLAPS.
I’m getting some cookie/pie crust sugary sweetness and very light/floral notes like red apple and rose/hibiscus. Been really into Japanese whiskeys lately.

You should look for Hatozaki 12yr since you shop costco, and insist on nip shit. One of the few nip whiskys with an age statement, bottled at 46%, and has no color or chill filtration. It's still overpriced like every bottle from japan, but it's a lot closer to the value of normal scotch whiskey and also pretty tasty.

I have the 12 as well. good substitute for Springbank 10, but isnt overly comple. its slightly less "funky" in favor of more smoke. newer SB10 is allegedly getting more sherry in the mix where as KK12 is very little sherry.

I'm slightly interested in this bourbon but it'd cost $50 to satisfy my curiosity.

It's a wheated bourbon, which I've only had Maker's Mark before (and this is retardedly wheated, with 45% wheat, 51% corn, 4% barley). Normally I like high rye bourbon but I don't even know what to expect from such a wheat-based bourbon.

The bottle also contains a spiral of charred french oak to infuse more flavor into it. I don't know if that really changes things or if it's a gimmick that wouldn't have adequate time to matter unless you personally aged it for a long time. The one at my store is also bottled at around 120 proof, not 90 like in this pic. Store select.

if they stand by their pick you should be able to try before you buy. if not then fuck em. you can get Makers 46 and its higher proof version for the same price or less.

the spire is as gimmicky as a worm in tequila. wheated bourbon is probably the modern whiskey world's biggest meme trying to appeal to normies because its le sweet when it's really just a cheap filler grain used to make something akin to Canadian whiskey but has a heaping amount of white oak to make it less anaemic.

the joke being that it's not even sweet compared to actual bourbon watered down to 40% like Very Old Barton or Henry McKenna for half the price of regular Makers.

my suggestion for you is that if you like high rye is to try a Pennsylvania Rye as it uses no corn, but is still plenty sweet.

dont know where else to post this, but since its technically whiskey i guess this is the place. Got tricked into drinking fireball because i dislike the taste of alcohol and oh my god this shit is putrid. I'd rather deal with the alcohol sting than drink this shit. I dont even feel a slight buzz yet and already my own breath and aftertaste is making me feel sickly nauseous. And I absolutely love cinnamon. This shit is truly ghastly. Sticking with vodka shots and margaritas from now on until i find a real whiskey i can enjoy.

People really sleep on the mayo grilled cheese. It cant beat the butter for taste, but at the same time the mayo imparts almost no flavor onto the sandwich itself and the bread is less dense and oily at the end. Prefer butter for taste and mayo for mouth feel and less greasy digits.

I bought this as my first bourbon. It tastes a little less syrupy as Jack Daniels and a little smoother.
