What the fuck is the best brand dog food? Everything I read is some faggot saying I have to pay $200+ a month to feed my dog. My great aunt used to feed her animals any old shit and they would live to very old age until they got hit by a car or died peacefully? What do I do bros?

My dog lived to 19. I fed her Blue Wilderness food but I think she lived long because we took long walks every day. Your puppy is so cute, looks like a border collie <3 make sure she always has fresh water and lots of hugs. I heard you should allow herding dogs to herd, maybe you can figure out how to do that for her/him.

real food is best food. feed your pupper plenty of table scraps. bougie raw meat blends are also ideal. can't help you with wet food, every dog i've ever fed has been really picky about it.

avoid kibble if at all possible. not only is most of it basically just sawdust and rice, but even the premium stuff is prone to give dogs allergies over time. plus kibble poops make bigger, tougher turds so when your dog gets older or if you change foods later you'll have to manually express their glands... that is, stick your finger up their butthole and squeeze out gross goop.

humans tend to be born with allergies and grow out of them but dogs are the opposite. they can develop allergies to ingredients over time - this is more egregious because dogs don't have choice like we do, they just eat the humanslop we put in their bowls. grains and chicken are the most common ingredient in dog food and what they tend to become allergic to because they eat it for 3 times a day, 365 days a year. avoid chicken, mix up flavors. animals won't starve themselves unless they're genuinely sick, if you feed them on a schedule they'll learn to eat what you give them. anything with salmon is awesome btw, fish oil is great for dogs, gives them a luscious coat.

>> No.18978023

>>18978011
"avoid chicken" doesn't mean you can't ever feed them anything chicken based btw it's just super common, any 'flavor' that doesn't have the animal it's based on is probably chicken based, if your dog develops rashes, itching, skin conditions, you can't get rid of it, try feeding them a food you know is 100% not chicken based and see if that helps first, you might be surprised.

Ask your vet! they'll be happy to give you recommendations, though it tends to be Hills or Purina pro plan. Avoid grain free, studies show it can cause heart disease. Important thing is to work out how much they need so you're giving them the right amount. Also, mix in their new food over the course of a couple weeks to avoid giving them GI issues. Best of luck!

my dogs “allergies” went away when i stopped feeding her kibble. i tried various high end brands and she always had problems with something. her “allergies” went away when I stopped taking her for vaccinations and started feeding her real food without seed oils

>> No.18978129

>>18978116
Most dog food allergies are caused by the type of protein (beef, salmon, poultry, etc). did your vet try having you give her a hydrolyzed diet to see if it helped? not the easiest thing to do, shit's expensive and it takes weeks to see results

>> No.18978133

>>18978116
it's usually grains or chicken. 99% of the time when a dog develops rashes, itching, etc. it's one of the two. just try a diet without either of the two. if your dog doesn't eat it just keep at it, they won't starve themselves unless they're sick, they'll eat what you make them eat. you can put a bowl of something in the microwave for like 10-20 secs, it makes that meat smell dogs like, they eat from smell not taste.

if you give them a chicken and then grain free diet and they still have the same symptoms, it's something else, hit up your vet, they should be able to help you out. but try abstaining from chicken and then grain first, they'll put you on some fucking gay retarded scam diet first that costs $200 for food, it's bullshit. just check if it's chicken or grain first, that's usually what it is, just diversify your pet's diet.

did u not see the part where i wrote i just feed her real food and her “allergies” dissapeared? she can eat whatever she wants now . all kinds of meats and potatoes and rice and cooked veg. all her intolerance and itching and ear infections stopped when i stopped feeding her any type of kibble. i tried all the expensive brands too with different protein sources. i dont do anything the vet says now because i dont take her to the vet anymore and she doesnt have problems anymore . vets , like human doctors, are pharma shill niggers always trying to push frequent vaccines and seed oil infused foods

Science Diet and Taste of the Wild are good brands, Blue Buffalo is okay but back when I worked at Petco they regularly had a bunch of recalls. Fromm is a good high end brand if you you're willing to pay, my parents use this with their corgi and she's lived a long life with no health issues. Supplementing their diets with raw food can be beneficial but ask your vet for advice instead of trusting randos online/
