What are these called? I asked the girl at the bakery and she told me they're called "Italian cookies". Been eating them my whole life but never had a name for them, I've always just called them "those sprinkle cookies from the bakery." Live in Hoboken by the way. These look like fancy versions of the Milano cookie Pepperidge Farm makes. I looked it up and they don’t seem like they have a 1:1 Italian inspiration. These cookies are much closer to the American version than any Italian cookie I can find.

Those coloured bits are typically Dutch/Belgian. They're called hagelslag (bullet blow) or muizenstrontjes (mice poo). They're never coloured though. I've only ever seen them on slices of bread and ice cream for children, never seen them in Italy (I'm 50% Italian, obviously spend a lot of time there).
