I don't know if anyone will remember, but I made a thread a couple weeks back asking what I should do with some canned squid that I had. Someone said to make black pella and I didn't have and shrimp, so I made this.

It's canned squid in ink with cold cut ham, garlic, onion fried in butter and mixed into a butter, cream, chicken stock, squid ink reduction. Came out better than I thought it would.

I've only had canned squid in oil, not ink, but it's a pretty good snack straight out of the tin with some hot sauce.

I usualy don't like anything too fishy, but squid ink has a very fishy, savory taste that tastes good.

How? You have to experiment to come up something new, that's how it's always been. And it was a very sucessful attempt; it tasted great and I've found that the squid and ham go together. And it was all on the cheap, too.

Better that playing it 'safe' and never going beyond pic related.
