Mine does without problem with very little butter

>> No.18928446

Yes.
>b-but it sticks!!!
So? Use a thin metal spatula to detach it. Then soak the pan before washing it. What's the fucking problem?

>> No.18928455

>>18927765
MIne is significantly less black than that and eggs still let loose with minimal effort or grease.

But OP fucked it, so the answer to the thread is "no"

>> No.18928464

anything can fry an egg. its about heat. if you have the heat right you can fry an egg without oil on any properly seasoned pan. most people have the heat way too low and cook the egg way too long. now if your pan is unseasoned then you'll need some oil or spray unless its a nonstick pan

>> No.18928467

Or you know, just not use 5th BC tech and upgrade to a quality modern non stick and learn how to cook low temperature with a lid much more cleaner and efficiently.

But no, you guys just keep larping like your a civil war soldier or something if that makes you feel good.

I can't believe we still have to put up with shitty de buyer garbage that warps and has rivets that are impossible to clean. why the fuck does a french company like matfer not sell their shit in europe? I'm not paying 130 bucks to import a french pan from the US

You can fry an egg on a sidewalk
so yeah

>> No.18928806

temperature affects flavor, I like having some browning on my eggs especially sunny side up ones, and I also like using a metal spatula, as well as not having to have two different spatulas for different pans

cast iron also lasts longer

yes I see op's picture is a carbon steel skillet, but this applies to either

Yes, it's dead simple. Bit of heat, bif of butter, eggs in, simple as.

>> No.18929000

Sure, you could even do an omelette in it. The trick to having eggs not stick on a metal pan is to cook for a short time on a layer of hot fat.
>heat pan
>add butter when hot (adding to hot pan gives butter less time to brown/burn, you want it to bubble in the pan but not turn brown
>add egg
>reduce heat

IKEA sells these for very little money. I believe I paid 20€ for mine it it has worked like a charm for a year now.

To maintain/make it non-stick apply the tiniest bit of flax/linseed oil to a dry pan and wipe vigorously until no visible oil remains, then put it on the burner at max heat for a couple of minutes. Wa-la.
