Why are Dutch and German cuisines absolutely awful? They brought about great achievements in science, philosophy and other areas but every single one of their dishes is literally some sort of potato dish, usually fried, sausages - admittedly good but not exactly great cuisine - and some variety of bland meat and vegetables lazily thrown together and overcooked. The only thing worth eating there are dishes brought over from other countries.

A literal lump of meat roasting over a fire and wrapped in a flatbread completely mogs anything germanics came up with throughout their entire history.

there are very strict guidelines in Germany (and presumable all of Europe) as to how hot potatoes can be prepared because of the acrylamide scare from a couple of years ago. Maximum permitted tempertaure for the frying oil is 168°C.
