I don't have one but a friend who's also pretty decent in the kitchen is extremely happy with his egg cooker and I gotta say, he's selling it really well to me, I'm considering paying :tenbux: to get one myself.

It's even more of a unitasker than a rice cooker (which you can also steam vegetables in), it literally just cooks eggs, something a pot can also do.

But it takes every single bit of thought out of the process? How much water? To the line. How hot? Just press the button. How long? Should I set a clock? Just Press The Button. What if I have a different number of eggs? BUTTON.

And if you eat a lot of eggs, that starts making sense.

I got one of those Zojirushi Japanese rice cookers and it's become one of my favorite kitchen items.

There's the obvious benefits:
Rice is always cooked perfect, better than I do in a pot, it's easier, I can't mess it up, and the cleanup is easier.

But the really big one that you don't realize until you have one is that it's fire and forget. Before you start cooking you load it up and start it and you never have to worry about the rice again until you need it. This thing cooks the rice perfect by itself and then can keep it warm and at perfect consistency for over 12 fucking hours. When you need the rice you just open it up and scoop it out.

Also it plays twinkle twinkle little star to let me know when the rice is done. (Japan you silly.)

I guess I didn't realize this. I can see how it'd be useful. I enjoy rice but I suppose I don't cook it enough to warrant buying one, although I think I'd eat a lot more rice if it just stayed warm and nice for many hours.
Does it do basmati properly? That's my favorite. I've got a big 20 lb bag of it.
