terrible attempt. if you want to make beans on toast you should use the whole tin of beans with at least 2 slices of bread; toast should be very toasted not that "mildly heated in the microwave" shite.

i recommend absolutely lathering the toast with butter and putting some thick-ish slices of red leicester on there under the beans

as a bong I hate how surface level most brits are in their food and culture. for example we are known around the world for loving tea yet 99% of tea drinkers here drink shitty teabag blends. english cuisine gets a bad rep only because noone actually cooks real food anymore, traditional english recipes are great but many are lost to time due to ww2 and postwar rationing and now when people learn to cook its all americanised bullshit

Memery aside modern British cuisine is damn good; it's, unsurprisingly, a hodgepodge of modern scandi, french technique, fusion, and a bit of the traditional game and heritage meat focus.

If you want to get a sense of British cuisines and recipes have a look at: https://www.greatbritishchefs.com/

Especially their chef deepdives. Also it's just a good recipe website.

Yes, there are quite a few recipe contributors (although mainly chefs with notable restaurants in Britain) so there are straight up foreign recipes. There's also a lot of fusion but I'd say that's fairly integral to British modernism (in technique and flavour).

There's a lot of good modern British cuisine there as well though, in a more traditional sense. To give a sense of a few that I think are quite representative of modern British cuisine without strong fusion elements:

I liked the idea of it up until I tasted it. Vile, literally just firm beans in a disgusting weak, sweet sauce.
I really don't get why is it so bad, we have a bunch of nice baked bean dishes in the Balkans, they're always cheap and easy.

You know that much traditional French cuisine originates from Britain, right? British cuisine was the defacto European court cuisine until the 18th century.
