Is KFC really that expensive in America?

I can get 8 pieces of chicken, 6 nuggets and 4 large sides for $24 from KFC Aus

Must be city prices desu. My local KFC wasn't this expensive last time I checked but I haven't eaten there in a while

thats either major city prices or airport prices

Yeah it's city prices although this seems even higher than that $60 for a nine piece? Here it's about 40 bucks for 12 piece family meal

KFC is way more expensive than churches, grocery store fried chicken, louisiana chicken, popeyes, pretty much everything. They still think theyr'e "the king" of fried chicken, when their quality has gone downhill in the states and everybody fucking knows it and misses the old KFC of the 80's or 90's. and zoomers don't even fucking KNOW that KFC used to be good unless they have a rural one (they're better for some reason). It's retarded. Plus they give you old, shitty chicken. Last time I ever went was ten years ago for a bucket, and the bucket was entirely old chicken. I didn't say anything to them to have them go "oh fuck this guy give him the old chicken". I said please, thank you ma'am, and all that and got cryptkeeper chicken. I got my money back and never came back.

I have a feeling the KFC in Asia is so much better.

but yeah I do not like frying chicken. It's messy and a pain in the ass. I can do it, but I'd rather not. I've had gas station fried chicken for $8 that was better than KFC is now.

Same, fried chicken is one of the few meals I can eat out without thinking "i could've made this cheaper and better at home".

My only experience with KFC is looking at DoorDash.
8 piece chicken is $22.79 plus fees if delivered and $18.79 if picked up.
12 piece is 32.39 delivered, 26.99 pick up
12 piece meal is 42.59 delivered, pick up 35.49
8 tenders are 23.99 delivered, pick up 19.99
Does seem overpriced.

I was craving some shitty fried chicken a couple years ago and went in to a KFC for the first time in probably 15 years and I couldn't believe the prices. This is what they are right now. I'm not paying $40 for a bucket of chicken.

>> No.18879497

That isn't an american menu but it is fairly pricey, largely due to chicken supply issues. An 8pc meal with 2 large sides and 4 biscuits is $31.49, which is $46.19 in dollarydoos. There's cheaper and/or better options than KFC, though. Hell most grocery store deli fried chicken is better than KFC and costs more than half as much.

For the past two years about once a month I used to get 8 piece fried chicken on sale from Safeway for $5. They haven't had sales in a while and price increased a few dollars, but it's still decent fried chicken.

Yeah safeway/albertsons deli fried chicken is great. Mondays are when they have the 8pc for cheap.

>> No.18879544

KFC in Australia turned to shit a couple years ago before covid. The quality is awful, and they also kept fucking with the menu by removing things, changing others and increasing prices.
You used to pay $20 for a 6 piece + nugs + strips + 2 chips meal. They slowly increased the price and fucked with it so much they had to change the name. It's now $26, it's reduced to 4 pieces of chicken, the nugs are the same and you get 3 extra strips, but they also changed the strips from being proper tenderloin pieces to shit tier formed crap that are half the size.
The good thing is some smart fellow imported some american pressure cooker type deal called "broaster chicken" and now various takeaway chicken stores also now have that, and the chicken from them is better.

my boomer parents spent over $70 USD on KFC last new years eve, 10 miles outside a major midwest city. iirc the order was a full bucket of mixed, 2 sides, 1 box of biscuits, and a 5 piece tenders. it came with a bag of soda and it made feel like I was on Canadian version of Punk'd. to this day I cant figure out how the fuck they thought that price wasnt bullshit.

I think online ordering has primed people to pay way more for food. It's crazy to me that people are willing to throw away a week's worth of food from a grocery store for a single shitty fast food meal. The tradeoff is absolutely not worth it.

>> No.18880559

They force you to use an app to get the "real" prices. Otherwise, expect to pay about $40 for a bucket and sides. Those high prices in that pic make me think it's Canuckistan rather than Fatsylvania.

In the south especially there's so many options that KFC is pretty much irrelevant. As someone who works at a gas station fried chicken place I can tell you that not enough customers means getting chicken that's on the verge of going rotten. It becomes a negative feedback loop. When a place is busy it means that the chicken stays fresh because they have to keep buying more.

The weird part is that there are people willing to spend more than $6 on a fast food meal. If you're spending $30, why not go to a real restaurant that serves better quality food?

but they do have nice turkey legs in november
