I am going to cook for a picky in-law and when I asked them what kind of things do you like they said "Ham". Don't get me wrong, Ham is ok, Ham has its place, but it's just boring as fuck. If you try and look up a ham dish it's more like a meme you add to various side dishes to use up your leftover ham from the holidays, really the only appropriate time to serve up a ham in the first place.

Should I just bake a ham and cop out or do any of you co/ck/s have a y good recommendations to consider?

if you have access to a grill/smoker do a double smoked ham--you basically just buy a store bought ham and glaze it again while you smoke/grill it, you can google a specific recipe

Make ham steaks with a parsley cream sauce. Serve it with a fancy potato and some butter braised carrots. Or make the ham and do something out of the box and make a cinnamon sauce with it and squash.

if they're picky then you can't dress it up too much or it'll turn them off. If it really bothers you to have a simple ham, then do a hamsteak for the parent and make other things for everyone else (hopefully the parent is aware and accepting of their limitations and not one of those "everyone has to be like me" types)
