a few years ago there were episodes where the judges actually had to cook against regular chef contestants. it was the most rigged farce of a competition ive seen. one of the judges competing (i think it was alex) dropped whatever she was making onto the floor and time was running out. so she couldnt use that anymore and instead just put the basket ingredient as is into the final product (a dessert). normally when a contestant does this, they immediately get railed on and chopped. the other judges still voted alex as having the better dish. chef contestant was robbed.
that sort of shit happened at least one other time. the judges just made sure fellow judges didnt lose. i think this was one of the reasons i stopped watching. i fucking hate chopped now
