I never associated the crust aversion with white people, but it's super common in Japan and I've seen it in Korea and China too. But in large scale manufacture the crusts are likely used for something else, maybe low quality bread crumbs or stretching out other food items.

But here is a girl that actually treats the crusts as a snack, and by the look of the picture it seems like she saved them on her own. But notice at the beginning they mention that it looks like some poverty food.

If anyone thinks US junkfood is bad they should spend time in Japan (company hates me, its why I keep getting sent on long trips to non-English speaking countries). Japanese processed, junk, and snack food, and often restaurant food is awful. Heavily processed, always too sweet, fucking sugar in everything, even dishes I'd hoped were savory. And they jump on every novelty, trend, and fad that happens, make it a massive cultural presence, then dump it after a few years when it gets replaced by another even worse fad (food, clothing, music, etc).
