It's a real problem I faced myself. Being borderline alcoholic seems like fun and should still be alright but it isn't. Even though I wasn't binge drinking every day, I still chugged down like 2 or 3 liters of beer a day. Which was alright at the beginning but I began getting health problems after a couple of years, got fat and did get good sleep. I felt burned out and worked towards the evening beers. I stopped when I drove to the store with my gf and she told me I smell like a fucking alcoholic. It was really hard the first days and weeks to not drink anything but I kept going through and now I have the occasional beer at some events on weekends. I feel much better and lost a lot of weight. I still do a couple of binge sessions a year but cut down on most other stuff. Would probably be a real alcoholic if I didn't stop. Thanks for reading my blog.

I imagine it comes close to some dude bros joinking every other day. You don't need to physically but you still have the itch to drink a beer or a couple of. It's still no real physical addiction but on a way to become problematic. As I stated in another post I didn't have withdrawals or anything but i still had the urge to drink and that needed a lot of willpower to overcome but ultimately was possible. I can still drink a couple of beers and stop the next few weeks without thinking about it.
Same goes for the dude bros they become all sweaty when you tell them to just stop if they are not addicted in some way to weed and they be like "sure I can every day no biggie hahahh but not today and not tomorrow Blablabla" they justify it with reasons that are pretty meaningless. Just like borderline alkies.

No, It's more like a casual drinker doesn't care if the venue for the evening has alcohol or not. Whereas the dependent alcoholic will have an issue with an alcohol-free venue.
>they're not drinking much at all compared to full on alkies or even people who drink too much every weekend
Alcoholism isn't defined by amount or frequency. It's defined by dependence. Emotional/psychological dependence is still dependence.

Not in my case but I have no idea what to do about it, gf and I both live with parents (inb4 hurr durr manchild etc,). Don't really want to hang out with each other while our parents are hovering around, so we spend time outdoors and other than going to the pub there literally is no reason to stay out past like 8. There is no activity in the city that goes on past evening that doesn't involve alcohol. So if we meet after work at say 5:30, get something to eat, cruise around, by 9 there is fuck all to do. That's why we end up drinking because going to a pub at least lets you chill somewhere.

Yes, you have to make rules around it because you can feel habitual use forming. No different from an alkie that tells himself he'll only drink on weekends, or one that says he'll only have 6 beers.
>Life might feel a little more boring without a thing I enjoy, but it would be the same way if I gave up sex, hiking, music, or any other thing that I like.

It's a way to politely tell other people (wives/husbands, coworkers, friends) to fuck off and stop pushing alcohol on you. Most people wouldn't have a problem giving up drinking if they lived alone and had no social life or romantic partner, they're driven to it by other people, and the meme months are designed to stop that. An alcoholic in the strictest terms is somebody who has an impulsive addiction to alcohol. Usually due to the genetic component which is often comorbid with OCD, ADHD, autism and similar such illnesses. These are people who are likely to become addicted to many things such as substance abuse (including alcohol), food, hoarding, etc. Then there are people who struggle to give up drinking due to the significance it plays in their lives, perhaps it's a centerpiece of their social lives or perhaps they use it to relieve themselves after a stressful job, and if these lifestyle factors were removed, their need for alcohol would be gone. I wouldn't call these people alcoholics in the traditional sense, so borderline alcoholic seems like a fair term to me.

Because Australia had a healthy economy before the mining boom.
Then the mining boom happened
And essentially anybody worth their salt leaves for better paid mining related jobs, meaning there is suddenly a labor shortage. This results in blue collar work taking what their labor is worth, especially if the company structure is flat.
And the labor shortage in itself won't end because a lot of blue collar jobs are hard, so people will cash out after 1-3 decades if the pay is good enough.

I drink 38.5 fl oz of beer every day (two 19.25 oz tall boys). I would drink more but I limit myself to this amount.

I come home from work, plop down in front of the TV or computer and crack one open and usually cook dinner in between beers or after depending on how hungry I am.
