Why are coffee beans more expensive than ground coffee? Am I paying to be able to grind it? What is this backwards logic?

>> No.18797359

coffee beans keep the coffee oil longer and stronger

>> No.18797368

it's easier to hide shit beans when they're ground

>> No.18797373

coffee beans = literal coffee
grounded "coffee" = literal actual unironic dirt and ink and artificial flavor

>> No.18797581

There's cockroaches in preground coffee. https://sprudge.com/dont-worry-there-are-acceptable-levels-of-ground-up-cockroaches-in-coffee-tins-152088.html

You'll find that coffee brands that offer the same coffee in both pre-ground and unground forms will sell the coffee at the same price. Coffee that only comes pre-ground is always inferior coffee. It is sub-specialty tier or commodity grade. Therefore, it is sold more cheaply because it was bought for less. These beans are always blends and almost always ugly coffee beans with physical deformities that would turn people off. All coffee grown is sold though. Nothing is wasted. It is an important crop.

They're less expensive here in India. That said, you can still buy excellent pre-ground coffee for ~12$ a kilo. Local roasters are less expensive and you can get better quality coffee too

it's unironically storage.
Beans are more bulky

>> No.18797707

People who are buying pre-ground coffee are less willing to spend on expensive coffee than people who are buying beans so the cheaper grades end up pre-ground and the more expensive ones en up whole.

Dude, just fucking read a single page of Capital. It's not fucking hard to get why prices go up and down.

250g of ground coffee are the size of a convenient small brick
250g of coffee beans take more space and aren't shaped like a convenient little brick

you can choose how course or fine your grind will be, meaning you can get better extraction for your chosen method of brewing, meaning better quality coffee.
