I went ahead and bought the meme gorilla food. Pretty bland, like cardboard with a hint of citrus. They’re not bad with a bit of peanut butter or honey, though. How many of these things am I supposed to eat a day? I’ve been eating about 5-6

None, they look like dried up cat turds

There isn’t any, it’s zoo-grade great ape food. It lists what nutrients are in it, but nothing specific beyond that.

is it actually food for animals?

There's not "nutrition facts" because it's feed, not food.

No more than 2% of your body weight, and half your calories should come from something besides monke chow.

Yes. Mazuri ‘gorilla feed’, specifically the one meant for males during the breeding season to “ensure healthy muscle development”.

>>18789676
There’s no way in hell I could stomach 2½lb of these things in one sitting. And I am, they’re mostly just a snack during my hourly gaming stretch breaks. I’m mainly eating homemade chilli with rice and beans to stretch the beef out longer

It's old news at this point.

Also, per 100g of feed, there's 173 calories from macros. I don't know the math for deriving calories from micros, but I don't think it's too retarded to assume around 2 calories per gram of chow.

Bruh... Do you really think animal and pet food has the same regulations as human food? Human food gets contaminated and has bugs and shit in it and the rules at the factories are strict. How loose with the regulations do you think they are with animal food? It's going to have 10x the fucking disease, bugs, and bad bacteria that human food does. Enjoy dying of botulism because of a stupid ass meme.

It would be 2½ pounds over a whole day. If you don't hit it, don't sweat it. It's a supplement.

100g is about a 4oz. I don’t have a scale handy but from feel I can reckon each biscuit is about an ounce. So maybe about 3-4 a day is a good number for a ⅓ biscuit ⅔ normal food diet assuming the ‘normal food’ is balanced around them

A half to ¾ is about the max of what I’d be willing to tolerate. Like I said, I’m eating them with peanut butter which is also calorie-dense and protein-dense

I would just weigh them. I haven't indulged in chow in a few months, but I'm pretty sure 4 ounces was something like 15 kibbles, because that's the weight I settled on too.

My internal scale is well off then, ha. I’ll have to break out the bathroom scale and just keep adding some to a bowl until I can measure it. Great to run into someone else who went down this route, what a happy little accident posting on /ck/ turned out to be, thanks lad

I'm actually considering dog food because the protein's much higher and you can get "grain-free" (read: a little bit of grain). I got some inflammation issues with grains.

I haven't tried any, but reading through the ingredient lists of a few brands it really didn't seem to be inedible. What's "out of spec" from a nutritional requirement stand point?

Ash means what's left if you burn it, not ash that they add. So 8% means if you burn it and weigh the ashes, it will weigh less than 8% of the original mass. In other words 8% of it is minerals that don't burn.
