Tallyho Brits, had meself some scotch eggy an chippy w/ beans. Lovely! The sweetness of the beans contrasts quite nicely with the crunch and salt of a chip. For the eggy, it was soft-boiled, however the use of ground beef had us cook it for a wee longer on account of the juices. If you're using anything other than cured meat, like the traditional sausage, you may want to poke holes in the egg as you fry to let em out! Still a hearty meal, and would recommend. Any questions I might entertain?

Yeah, I'm actually American. I've got family in London of course. Also I forgot to mention the dollop of mustard sauce, it's stone ground dijon with black pepper, small spoon of honey, small spoon of rice wine vinegar (white wine also works, if not better), it cut through the egg real nice, and I would say it's essential.

A Brit like me can't forget, the yanks go off about Heinz, but I'm rather fine with our "ketchup". Don't need a license to conceal carry a bottle of the stuff when I pick up a pasty!

Presentation is feefee as fuck but it doesn't look too bad. Concerned about the use of beef over sausage meat tho desu. If you do use sausage meat for your next attempt add a little bit of finely diced apple to it for a bit of sweetness to go with the herbs

Multiple give aways. Noone eats that for breakfast. Noone eats that combination. Noone makes a scotch egg. Those aren't British beans.
Now if that was a dinner of chips , a few sausage, beans, couple of fried eggs and some slices of buttered white bread, thatd be realistic

Always wanted to try this, I think what makes it such a classic dish is the variety of vitamins it offers, and nutrient-rich dishes leave you feeling fuller, like oatmeal with fruits and nuts aka Cali style

That sounds like good bar food, I get pairing it with a beer. The sandwich itself kind of sounds southern if I didn't know it was English, they make spreads with cream cheese or pimento cheese for sandwiches, so it reminded me of that.

Pardon, what does feefee mean? In the US, it refers to feelings or a masturbator apparatus. And thanks, the only issue with beef was a lot of juice came out, so I would fry one side, flip it over, and poke holes in it to let them out, otherwise they burst. It was 96% lean too, still came out smooth because I mixed egg and a little oil into it. Cured meat is ideal. The addition of apple sounds interesting, might even add some moisture. Pork and applesauce is also a common combo in the states.

>> No.18796894

>>18792988
It's a pretty good combination, it's like a British burger and fries, so I'm surprised to hear. I guess most Brits go to the pub or a quick shop for scotch eggs? It wasn't too hard to make the dish, but there is a decent amount of cleanup. I'm interested in making an English breakfast, so I think I'll take you up on a more realistic meal for brekky. Main issue for me is getting black pudding locally, I'll probably order online.

Aussie food has good quality, especially the beef. You guy should try Texas BBQ, I heard there aren't too many restaurants down under that serve it. There are some strangeities, like it being common to put BBQ sauce on pizza and beet on a burger. I like a good pickled beet still.

There's a southern low and slow BBQ 30 minutes away from my house. It's great but after a while it's like ingesting meat slathered in petrol. Cornbread is fucking amazing though and really helps to balance out all of the sauce

>> No.18799140

>>18798011
Yeah, I'll say vegetables like collard greens and green beans really help process the richer portions of a Southern meal. Maybe they have dry rub BBQ? Because I agree not everything needs to be covered in sauce.
