Any anons with kids?
What do you make them for lunch on schooldays?
Do you just make something in the morning and put them in the fridge for them to heat up?

Surely you don't expect them to have a fully nutritious meal at school?

>> No.18783287

I don't think i can help you cuz he only just started kindergarten this year, which is a half day, and we're "ethnic" so we have no concept of kids food. He just rests smaller portions of what we eat.
I take him in the morning and i or his mother pick him up around lunch time where we come home and eat smelly ethnic food because we're smelly, ethnic people who don't feed him chicken nuggets and hot dogs.
Yesterday, it was curry chicken soup with rice and roti with a side of sauteed mixed vegetables (no mushrooms for his portion because he doesn't like them).

... what sort of school doesn't have microwaves? Even if they only have one in the teacher's lounge, if you live in America and don't have any qualms with lying, tell them that you're ISKCon members and it is against your religious beliefs to eat food prepared by nonmembers so their refusal to allow him to reheat a home cooked lunch is a violation of his first amendment rights and grounds for s big fat fucking lawsuit. Guaranteed, they'll either let him use it or have someone reheat the food for him.

They don't like eating while in school so they wait till they get home. Usually mom whips up lunch for them but that's not possible anymore.

>remember my childhood when it came to meals
>lunch in elementary school was horrible cafeteria food that i threw out most of the time and parents didnt care and wouldnt make me food
>middle school and high school parents still wouldnt make me lunch so i just made small shitty sandwiches and ate probably 200 calories for that meal
>for a period of a few months my mother would buy a little caesars pizza monday night for me to eat 2 slices tuesday thru friday
>dinner would be small meal and i would be restrained from eating more if i was still hungry so there would be leftovers, the thought of bringing extra to lunch never was even in the realm of possiblity
i graduated hs at 18 and i was 5'7" 115 lbs.

There are many different options for school lunches that can be made in advance and packed in a lunchbox for kids to take to school. Here are a few ideas for healthy and easy-to-pack school lunches:

Turkey and cheese roll-ups: Spread a whole wheat tortilla with hummus or mustard, top with slices of turkey and cheese, and roll it up.
Peanut butter and jelly sandwich: Make a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole wheat bread.
Pasta salad: Cook some pasta and mix it with vegetables such as cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and cucumber. Dress it with a little olive oil and vinegar.
Hard-boiled eggs: Boil a few eggs the night before and pack them in the lunchbox with a small container of mayonnaise or mustard for dipping.
Fruit and yogurt: Pack a container of yogurt and a piece of fruit, such as an apple or a banana.
Sandwiches or wraps filled with protein sources such as deli meat, peanut butter, or hummus, and vegetables such as lettuce, tomato, and cucumber
Cold pasta or grain salads made with quinoa, brown rice, or whole wheat pasta, and mixed with vegetables and a protein source such as beans, tofu, or chicken
Homemade pizza pockets made with whole wheat pita bread and filled with tomato sauce, cheese, and vegetables
Hard-boiled eggs, cheese sticks, and sliced vegetables such as carrots and cucumbers
Leftovers from dinner the night before, such as grilled chicken, vegetables, and rice

It is generally a good idea to pack perishable items in an insulated lunch bag with an ice pack to keep them fresh until lunchtime. Non-perishable items such as crackers, granola bars, and fruit leather can be packed in the lunchbox without an ice pack. It's also a good idea to encourage your child to drink plenty of water throughout the day to stay hydrated.

I had no idea my kid felt this way. I thought he liked the lunches. Kids can be cruel, but I constantly try my best to provide for him, giving him more than I ever had. I'm sorry he's experiencing this. I'll make sure to put extra effort into making his lunches more enjoyable from now on.
