After how many defrosts prawns (pic related) are unsafe to eat? I have bag of frozen, raw prawns which i bought 6 months ago or so, since then i took it 2 or 3 times, took multiple prawns from it defrosted it, ate it, then i put bag in freezer again. Bag was open in freezer all the time. Is it safe for me to take rest of those prawns, defrost them, fry them and eat them with garlic?

Did you defrost the entire bag just to take a few prawns from it?

But to answer your question, we'll need some more details : by "defrost" do you mean "slightly thaw so I can detach the shrimp I need"? Because if that's the case, you're probably good for years. (Also, you don't need to do this. Just break off the shrimp you need). However, if you mean "completely thawed the bag then refroze the shrimp" then you are probably fucked.

But more to the point, you're the one with the shrimp and the nose. Does the shrimp smell funny (when thawed)? Does the shrimp look off colour? Did it taste strange the last time you ate some?

If you defrosted any of them, you should not freeze them again.

Once they are defrosted, you have to eat them.

What kind of a shithole country are you from that sells frozen shrimp that aren't IQF? Throw that shit out.

not defrost/freeze of entire bag, but bag was open all the time in freezer and it was there pretty long.
Anyway i ate them already, so far good, but prawn's sharp shell felt bad in my stomach. And prawns were bit bitter maybe cause i did not care to remove intestines. I still liked it, but i still have to learn how to prepare them proper so they are really good, this shit is nontrivial for me, so much fucking about and result is substandard, but i am also very casual cook not bothering to read recipes etc

Fuckin learn how to speak English you dumb cunt. Why even make a thread if it's after the fact.

Why would you do this?
How did you confuse this with "after how many defrosts"?

>prawn's sharp shell felt bad in my stomach
Jesus.
Wow.

When you eat fried chicken, do you eat the bones too?
Bones and shells are for making stock.

why? what are you expecting to happen in the few hours they are merely cold rather than frozen? some sort of bacteria explosion that fresh prawns are for some reason not subject to?

There are certain ways to cook shrimp.prawn in such a way that the entire shell is edible, but generally speaking, you should deshell it.

The bacterial activity starts if it thaws enough, and continues through your freezers slow re-freezing process.

Re-freezing also causes even more cellular damage, leading to even more conducive conditions for bacteria.

Use common sense as to whether its fit to be re-frozen or not, but preferably only de-frost what you are going to use.

If you arent a faggot/whore, and use normal common sense, all of this is obvious anr reasonable.

Seafood, and shellfish in particular, however really dont do well re-frozen, and their original freezing was FLASH-FREEZING which is not something you can do at home.

I cook them from frozen in a pan...

in a well buttered pan, medium heat, covered for 12 minutes.
