Is Hexclad a scam? Why is this company giving me shady vibes? The prices are ridiculous too.

how could this possibly not be a scam

>how could this possibly not be a scam
Turns out it doesn't work as well as advertised, but the idea makes perfect sense.

it's for retards that haven't figured out that metal damages teflon

No it's not a scam, or at least not completely. The technology has valid uses. The company is engaged in shady marketing though, absolutely.

You get a pan that is mostly nonstick, albeit not quite as nonstick as normal nonstick, and in exchange you can use metal utensils in it. Also if it cracks/gets damaged, due to the stainless segmenting on the pan only that segment will peel off at first, not the whole nonstick coating at once. Will stuff still stick? Yes, more than on a normal nonstick, less than on a stainless.
Does it make sense to get one?
If you value the ability to use metal utensils in your pan and don't mind the price, yes. If you do not mind using the appropriate tool for the appropriate pan, having a stainless and nonstick each is better and the nonstick one is cheaper to replace eventually.
The TL;DR is these pans trade nonstick properties for resilience and cost a lot for that privilege, but they aren't bad products. You call if that deal makes sense to you.

I got all of that info from https://youtu.be/AZ6oJ8SuYBA which is a great video covering if they are any good and the guy knows his shit. My parents have one and love theirs (because they'd still use metal utensils despite knowing they shouldn't and scratch the shit out of their nonstick), but after that video I realized that it doesn't make sense for me because I don't mind using proper tools.

in short, it's a well built pan, but the non-stick claims are very dubious.
it performs just slightly better than bare stainless steel and significantly worse than teflon.
Just buy a teflon pan for sticky delicate foods like fish and eggs and a quality stainless clad pan for everything else. Hexclad is something in the middle ground that really doesn't do anything particularly well.

You can use metal utensils on a quality enameled cast iron too, without compromising the nonstick ability.

Because it's not non-stick and requires oil still making it completely pointless. Just buy stainless steel.

These pans are getting shilled HARD by bloggers. Makes me wonder if they are getting paid off.
