The only time I've cooked bacon that looked anything remotely like that was when I brined and smoked my own pork belly to make bacon. I didn't rinse the brine off thoroughly enough so when I went to cook it in the pan the excess sugars burnt a little around the edges, but it still tasted pretty good.

Here's your (You) that you wanted so badly. If you legitimately did that by accident, find the nearest euthanization chamber immediately as you don't deserve to live among humans. If you did it on purpose to bait, see above. If you stole this from somewhere to bait, see above. Basically, kill yourself sub-human.

>possible to cook a burger on a stovetop skillet without making a colossal mess?

Possible, but not preferable. Spatter guards and cones are a thing, but I don't even cook hamburgers anymore indoors--not worth the mess.
Even if you have a great spatter guard--that atomized grease gets EVERYWHERE, and unless you have a $12,000 hoodvent-- you can't avoid that.
I've never had this issue with any other meat, for searing or browning, strangely; Just burgers.

The trick to cooking bacon in a pan is to use some kind of fat; either bacon grease of vegetable oil.
The fat does a more even job of conducting heat so you can use a lower temperature.

why are itoddlers like this

>> No.18756792

Medium heat and take it off BEFORE it's crispy. When it's brown, it's good. It will crisp as the fat drains out and the pockets made from frying it fill with air. Put them on paper towels to help absorb said grease for crispier results.

Use a skillet in the oven. Makes a nice cooking surface, seasons your cast iron, allows you to easily pour off the excess grease, and much easier to clean than a baking sheet.

i cooked great bacon earlier today, here's a tip
heat the pan on high heat till it smokes a bit
fry bacon for like 45 seconds each side, till it's slightly crispy
don't worry about "raw" parts, bacon is cured
