Took me forever to realize the reason the breakfast sandwich rules is that they put 2 slices of cheese on that mf.

honestly I had no idea as a kid that waffle house was the enward food chain. I would only ever see them on family road trips and IHOPs in the south always seemed to have more black people. Never had a bad experience in any of these diner chains.

It's good diner food. Breakfast at any time and custom ordering is normal and the menu actually includes the lingo so you don't have to "Can I get peppers and onions in my hash browns?"
Also, since it's still lunch counter style, nobody gives a shit if you're on your own. It's my favorite place to go if I need to kill an hour and want lunch or something.

Waffle House is my go-to breakfast place when I'm doing road trips. It's not fancy, but the food's good and will keep you going on the road until dinnertime. Their coffee, btw, is first-rate, and you can get a thermos full to take on the road.

This is correct, but with the labor crunch, even those stores might have gone downhill terminally. Went to my usual about a year and a half ago; my feet stuck to the filth on the floor and there were visible drops of grease floating in my coffee. Haven't been back since.
