Came across a red copper pan I was gifted like 5 years ago, literally never used once. Is it worth a shit or should I dump it into the ol' donation pile?

>> No.18742391

Why don't you use it and make a thread about that you dumb fuck

Someone gifted my family one multiple people have taken it and never used it in their kitchen. Mine is square and the surface of the pan is slightly convex so anything liquid or eggs doesn't sat i the center of the pan.

The Non-Stick is achieved by a High Heat Clear Coating that is applied to the Pan and Wears Away after using it for a few months. The instruction says to " Season" The Pan". So I did, But There is nothing to Season. The surface is Sealed by the Clear Coat. I never put this in a Dishwasher, and I have only cleaned it gently with mild soap and water. It Doesn't matter what you do eventually, the Coating Will Wear Off, in about 35 uses and cleanings. I have purchased 2 of the Pans, and the same thing happened each time.

Thats why one should use cast iron. The seasoning of a cast iron pan and its non-stick properties will only get better with time instead of worse.

if it's any other ceramic coated pan I've tried, it seems great at first, but then everything starts sticking like crazy after just a few months (if not weeks) of use.

>> No.18744593

>>18742378
its just like any other nonstick pan. its good for a while if you take care of it, but after a few months of even very careful daily cooking it will deteriorate and eventually you might as well just be using stainless steel.

>> No.18744941

>>18744140
Baby sit it now and after a while you won't have to. Whereas other pans mentioned in this thread only deteriorate, cast iron becomes more usable over time.

Patience is a virtue anon.

Do those have any bullshit teflon coatings on them? I know sometimes companies will call them ceramic and then proceed to coat it with plastic shit. Something gimmicky as this is probably fucked.
