Or if you're still making it at home instead of at the shop, it's kind of pointless.
The point of "homemade" is that you don't have a designated separate location for making stuff.

"Made" and "Make" are from the germanic word "macian". In essence, it's a placeholder word that simply emphasizes that you've acted upon or changed the object in question. Moreover, its use is very flexible in english provided the object has changed or arose due the subject's actions.
If you cure meat, then you've "made" cured meat.
