yeah I've had lots of contact with black burr in the woods on campouts and such, and although it gets a bit tense at times they generally run away as soon as they spot you. problem is they also casually eat people fearlessly and nobody really understands what makes them tick, so when you have a black bear stalking you, you have to appreciate that this is the last thing many people just like you saw.

only ever saw a grizz once and I have no intention of putting myself near them. fuck that shit.

You've clearly never grown up around black bears. They just like to scavenge, especially if they're a smaller bear that got basically bullied out the woods by bugger bears and just wants to eat. Now obviously that didn't mean I wasn't keeping my gun nearby for a week after the bear showed up in case it was lurking outside.
