American BBQ is one of the best food types in the world. I'm eating some BBQ pulled pork.

>> No.18686225

We can argue about the other three but I think we can all agree Texas bbq is bottom tier. Brisket really just sucks. Like 1% of brisket is good enough to really be called fantastic, the majority of it is shit.

Tri tip is big on the west coast, never heard of it till I moved out there, they are fanatical about it.
It is a good meat if done right and was a cheaper cut, might not be any more.

Dude never had brazilian churrasco, or philipine inihaw, god even fucking turkish mangal is better than the shit you americans make.

Texan barbecue was the biggest fucking disasppointment of all of them, the only way for good meat cuts to taste worse is if they dried it out and then carbonized it before serving

KC guy here. Want to send a care package to yourself or passing through town and want to hit up the best bbq check out

Jack's Stack BBQ (the upscale place)
Joe's Kansas City (the crowded lunch place)
Danny Edward's BBQ (the almost always closed place)
Bryant's BBQ (the best black bbq place)
Char Bar (the best bar)
Q39 (the best hipster bbq)
BB's Lawnside BBQ (The best bbq and blues, cajun style food)
Zarda BBQ (white bbq in the suburbs and they also smoke ribs and sell them in upscale supermarkets, and they have a Sneed Sandwich)

Bourdain liked BB's best. Bryant's is "the president's choice". Q39 is the hangout of the KC Chiefs.

not him but i really enjoy q39's bbq offerings, havent really had joe's because their lines are always fucking huge and im not going to stand around and wait. with q39, i can just make a reservation and they'll always have it ready for me. q39 is expensive af but i think it's worth it if you want to treat yourself. they have a tiny mac and cheese for like $10 but its so fucking good.
