I am experimenting with guinea pig perma culture in my backyard. Mustard greens grow really well almost year round in my climate. The guineas wont eat them which is good but they might go really well cooked together.

had cuy a couple times while living in ecuador. it wasn't very good, but ecuador, particularly in the highlands where i was, isn't exactly a gustatory capitol. i'm sure they can be made to taste good, but why you wouldn't just eat a rabbit instead is beyond me.

A resto in my area served guinea pig for, like, a week until it got PETA'd into stopping before I could get around to trying it. Ecuadorean place. The owner's son and daughter-in-law opened my favourite burger place and it was even nearer my house than the cuy resto was but now they're both close. : (

I've owned ferrets and worked at a mink farm. There's a good reason why weasel meat isn't on store shelves. It likely tastes foul.

Animal husbandry, ethical slaughter, and consumption isn't abuse because they happen to be cute. To you're other point, God gave us dominion over every other living creature so wrong. As a poor person who can't afford to buy any food and the local food bank has literally no protein, I go on Craigslist for free ferrets and guinea pigs. Probably one posted a day where I live. If someone's selling, I'll ask if I can have it for free. They don't taste very good, but not much of a choice and I'm not resorting to dogs.
