I ate a 3 michelin star restaurant, food sucked, and I was still hungry. As soon as I left, I went straight to McDonald's and enjoyed a quarter pounder, large fry, and large Diet Coke.

Enjoy it if you can find the right place.

There are an awful lot of newer restaurants that have very young "chefs" that pile on way too much in the way of plate decor, and try way to hard with flourish that is usually inedible (rocks on the plate, empty clam shells that have been dressed, etc).

But a good menu and chef/team, and it is very hard to beat.

In general I'd say I prefer what would colloquially be termed 'fine dining', but isn't as much nouvelle cuisine, or has it dialed back a bit

I like eating fancy sometimes, but I also like going to places like Golden Corral just to eat like a pig at the breakfast buffet

Nothing wrong with fine dining and on special occasions I have no problem spending good money on high quality food. With that said, that tiny portion, neatly arranged all gay bullshit is a total scam designed to trick people with way too much money into parting with it unnecessarily and I’m convinced a lot of restaurants that do this are laundering money.

it's part of a tasting menu, likely 6 courses or more, the whole point being to sample unique flavours, rare ingredients, etc

yeah its for rich people. not because they're dumb, becuase they have fuck you money and can comfortably afford to do decadent things like enjoy flavour combinations you've never even thought of.

I’ve never had it. I always wanted to maybe one day, with someone special, but now I think I don’t care… about either. I’m sure my food tastes better.

I actually had the opportuinity to eat at a fine dining restuarant the other day. my friend just got a job there, so she took us out and everything was 50% off for us. I learned that rich people have a unique experience while eating out. They eat to taste, not to fill themselves. I had a grilled cheese at home before I went so I wasn't starving, and our tiny plates were very interesting. Once you get being hungry out of the way, all that is left is the experience of tasting all the different ways to prepare food. Unconventional flavors, all that. Awesome experience. However, wouldn't do it again.

I'm a simple man
I like me sausage, me bread, me potatoes, me carrots, love me pork, love me beef, love me chicken and fish.
I go to Costco and I buy like 4 trout for 14 bucks, and I smoke em on me smoker
I grill my pork,
Roast me beef
and Fry my chicken
I eat like the common sort of man I am, but just cause me food be simple, don't mean it so be bad.

Reject finery, embrace whole-smoked pig.
