Behold, the retard of the allium family.

>> No.18669724

Leeks are based tho. Shallots are the autist alliums

I'd say ramps or scapes. While both are delicious, neither even looks like it belongs in the allium family. It's like that cousin no one ever talks about at the cook-out. You know who I mean and you know what he did.

allium isn't a family, it's a genus within the amaryllidaceae family

Keep being a wet blanket like that and you'll ensure that the only cleavage you'll ever see is embryonic. Yes, I know you're correct (the very best kind of correct) but lemme tell ya sumfin else, junior: nobody cares.
So make like mitosis and split.

leeks don't exactly have a thousand and one uses anon but they're delicious when used sparingly.

nice. never mutch cared for that one, but nice.

Also pickerel, the last thing I used leeks for. Seafood chowda (oysters, scallops, lobsta).

Was fucking perfect, will never use onions again.

somehow it's the only pic I got but it was better than it looks. in Australia there are no ipswitch/longneck/piss clams. so I tried making it with Tasmanian pipi clams and although they are sweet and delicious they make a terrible chowder. then I went full seafood with fish, prawns, and scallops; better but not right. finally just bit the bullet and used oysters, scallies, and lobster and it was perfect. using leeks instead of white onion was a noticeable upgrade as well.

I still have a few jars in the freezer but 8.5/10 will make it this way again.

for the Chinaman a leek is a bland foodstuff with nearly no purpose. for the Polack a feeble springtime leek will transform your mudbroth and stone soup into a spicy exciting moment while you sit in the rain with your 13 children
