They make high quality nonsticks. Of course they still have bad chemicals, but the high quality bit means they're more resistant to shedding same. But you won't find them at the store, you'll have to look online. Anything over $150-200 should do it.

So how do we feel about picrel?
Are they any good? Or not bother and just get stainless? I was asked if I want one of these for christmas and I am not sure how to feel about it.
I own a cast iron pan and a carbon steel wok, but neither a stainless pan nor one of these hexclad ones. I do own a nonstick pan, but it's shit (scratched) so I should throw it out anyways.

for me it's neverstick premiums
>heat to 350f and nothing sticks
>decent sear with weights
>pan to oven safe
>induction compatible
>resists metal cookware enough to tolerate accidental scrapes
>allegedly dishwasher safe but never bothered to check
these have been treating me really well

you might as well get a high quality stainless steel pan in that case, they're better for almost anything anyway unless you are too lazy to read up how to use it

Every type of pan has its particular application, including stainless. Ideally, noone would own low quality cookware, but that usually all most can or care to pay for; or even are aware of since they'll never see quality cookware in the stores.

Someone QRD me on stainless pans. I use pans fairly sparsely and I'm sick of the shit in my house. The coated pans get shreded by my old folks and they use them 3x longer than it makes sense, no doubt eating some of that shit with the food. I don't fry often enough to justify a cast iron/steel carbon so I'm thinking about stainless steel, but my dad went into a demon possession style fit because to him all stainless is dogshit I guess? He maybe came inj contact with them 30 years ago under communism lul

and the secret seems to literally just be "don't use them for eggs and oil them well"
i'm from an eastern bloc country too btw. i wouldn't try to convince anyone in my family to move away from the shit they're used to but if you want to get a stainless steel pan for yourself, go for it. it's really not as intimidating as people make it out to be

the trick is to warm up the pan (without overdoing it) before using oil. takes like 3 or 4 times at most to learn how long it takes and if you're really bad at it just do the water drop thing that is explained in every single stainless steel pan video
