This but for food in general.
When I'm sober I get nausea for food constantly for no medically identifiable reason as of yet. Not anorexia, just feel nauseous on an empty stomach and project-vomit anything but water. Edibles are basically the only thing that give me enough of an appetite to keep myself from being underweight.
I often lurk /ck/ just because seeing pictures of food and people making it brings me more enjoyment than actually eating it myself.

One time I was high at a friend's house and he gave me a little bowl with what he called snack bites. It tasted amazing, the most savory umami with just the right amount of sweetness and seasoning. It had a satisfying crunch and a subtle roasted flavor. I ate the whole bowl and asked for more. He laughed and showed me the bag of dog kibble he fed me. We laughed and I got him back a couple of hours later.

I have tried eating the exact same dog food again, both sober and high, multiple times. It simply didn't taste the same. It was overtly dry, overpowered by bitterness, and had gristly texture.

It seems that, in the first instance, I wanted to believe I was eating a delicious snack so my brain made it so. I still sort of recall the rich flavor and satisfying crunch. But it seems that it was 100% placebo.
