anybody else have trouble screwing the bottom onto these bastards? the one I have is plastic on the bottom and never wants to go on evenly. is there a quality salt and pepper mill set that isn't a ridiculous price? I've had enough of spending way too long trying to get the bottom to set evenly.

There's your problem, my guy. All metal construction only.

would love that, but it seems even the ones advertising as "stainless steel" have plastic parts.

You're not supposed to screw the bottom back on. Just throw it out when you're done

Salt should be in a dish and dolled out with pinches of your finger.

As for the pepper mill - https://www.amazon.com/Unicorn-Magnum-Pepper-Mill-Black/dp/B0006GSR76

You're welcome.

Buy a cheap coffee grinder instead
$25 for a set with proper burrs. $5 more if you want a metal shell

I got a set of Brandani salt and pepper grinders at a local TJMAXX for $20.
Best set I've ever used, and I've had quite a few from dollar store throwaways to $80 turkish coffee grinder style mills.
Maybe I just got lucky, but they aren't that pricey for the set.
Top loader and ceramic burrs too.

Very aesthetic, Anon.
You ever try coffee in it without cleaning it out first?
I would at least once...
