Redpill me on deep fat fryers? I just got one for the first time.

I usually have a maximum 120 seconds total cooking/prep time per day for 3 meals and I prefer to cook each of them.

I got a cheap £23 deep fat fryer on amazon, 1L and so far I'm not impressed.

I usually cook 5-7 chicken thighs in a small frying pan with near sub 15second prep time and 25min cooking time AFK.

Now this fryer can only fit 3 thighs in the basket (do I need to use the basket?)

It seems to take > 20mins on 170 with sunflower oil not including pre heating the oil

then I read that the oil needs to be changed each time and fryer cleaned...? or the oil must be strained somehow. Can I just close the lid and leave it for a few more cooks? It seems really expensive otherwise.

And should I just up the heat for faster cook time? I was expecting sub 10min, even 5 for a small thigh

LOL

you need 6 litre fryer for that many thighs and no matter what it takes at minimum 15 minutes for the oil to heat up..

no you don't need to change the oil every time if you use it regularly but you should strain it every 2 or 3 uses.

No, I keep a tight schedule and can't afford a chef/wife.

I managed 4 then 2 but this basically doubled the cook time

The oil seemed boiling after 2 mins or so. It's a modern electric 900w fryer

ain't going to happen. either eat cheap microwaved shit, fast food, or give yourself more time.

I guess just chug the oil, take the hit and throw the fryer out then because that's the only way you're getting your daily calories in two fucking minutes.

I'm not including the time after the prep(taking meat out of fridge and putting into fryer)

I'm very athletic and can do this with practiced efficiency

I suffered my first burn in my life recently doing this with a frying pan and lots of oil in a sub 10second prep
