It is Autumn and I want to go to a carnival

I haven't had a candy apple in so long. A yearly carnival near where I grew up had them when I was a kid and I used to always get one, but they stopped selling them long ago.

I've never eaten one, as a kid I was turned off because "it's just fruit/boring". What did I miss?

They're extremely messy. Nice though, worth getting one at a fair if you ever have the chance. I prefer them to caramel apples tremendously. But honestly, I also do miss them partly for nostalgia. There are better desserts out there, and at least as good fair food.

I like fall because that means it's time to shoot squirrels and drink hard cider.

What does the candy coating taste like? We only have caramel apples in this area. I have always imagined it being like cinnamon jolly rancher.

I miss fall festivals in New England. Moved to Cali two years ago right before rona started, and now that it's over I'm realizing there aren't any fucking seasons over here. Feels like time doesn't move here. It's hard bros

My biggest weakness of all sweets. Fried dough of all varieties is top tier but funnel cake is special.

3rd worlder slavislav here. Please explain to me this dish and how did people come up with it? Whenever i see it, apple inside the glaze isn't baked. Looks like a huge missed opportunity.

If it was baked it would become too soft to hold. The point is that it's something you buy at a fair and can eat while walking around.

There's no cinnamon or spice taste to it at all. It's just a very pure red, candy flavor. Almost reminiscent of maraschino cherries.

Renaissance Festival starts this weekend here in NC. I can't wait. They do caramel apples and all sorts of fair foods. If it's chilly out I like to get soup in a breadbowl.
