wait wait wait

Most instant ramen noodre is meant to be a soup. Are people actually dumping the water and mixing the salt/msg packet straight into whett noodre? what the actual fuck?

now yes some instant noodre are not soup, they're meant to just be like stir fry noodre but those come with sauce and oil packets to help lubricate the seasoning and salt.

on a side note, when I make instant ramen I have a kettle going with fresh water heating up at the same time. when the noodre are almost cooked i strain out that horrible starchy oily noodre water that's basically chinese newspaper broth and i make my soup with the fresh water. much much better

Eventually you will have a condensed pot noodle "sauce" for use on rice or real noodles. I recommend running the broth through a filter of some kind to remove the noodle sediments.

I think it has. Dried pasta by itself only takes about an extra 3 minutes to cook than instant noodles, and jarred sauces have been student staple food forever. When I was in uni all the English students ate pasta with jarred sauce while the Asians ate instant noodles.

>> No.18390615

Yeah dried pasta and jarred sauce obviously. But those sachets of instant pasta, and things like pot or other "cup" pastas didn't get as popular as like super noodles, pot noodles etc.
I remember when I started seeing mug shot on the shelves, but I don't hear of a lot of people eating stuff like that.

Then in America it's mostly instant ramen, no idea in mainland Europe what cheap stuff students eat but I do know Poland has a big selection of instant noodles, even in tomato sauces, but not much with proper pasta.

It's really not that weird you hysterical faggot. It works as a soup and it works as noodles without broth more similar to Mi Goreng.
Mi Goreng isn't meant to be a soup and I can tell you Mi Goreng and Maruchan are extremely similar when you prepare Maruchan that way (although Mi Goreng is lower sodium).
If you use Maruchan with scrambled eggs then it would be retarded not to drain the water before adding the eggs and flavor packet.

I know that. I already said Mi Goreng is the one that tells you to drain the water and Maruchan tells you to use it as a soup, and the point is you don't need to use Maruchan like a soup and it still works fine as noodles.

Yeah, it'll definitely be more salty when a typical instant noodle pack is done Mi Goreng style instead of as a soup is the caveat (though Mi Goreng itself is surprisingly low sodium).
I'm the kind of person who prefers not even adding additional water to the Campbell's condensed chicken noodle soup cans and who likes anchovies, so if you're like me and prefer salty foods then you'll probably like Maruchan better when eaten with the water drained prior to adding the flavor packet in.

PS: I'll also point out there are definitely still noodle packs I would never drain the water for.
e.g. I would never drain the water and then try to mix in the miso in Nissin Raoh miso soup. That in my opinion would be legitimately weird and uncalled for, as opposed to with something like regular Maruchan or Nissin chicken flavor instant noodles which work just fine as noodles without needing to be soup.
