I've never used a rice cooker before, do they need constant supervision or can I leave it running in the kitchen while I do other things? Is it risky? It's a group kitchen so I don't want to study there, but I also don't want to cook in my dorm.

So true. One of my roommates is Chinese too so I'm worried he'll use it while I'm away. Gonna have to stash it in my dorm.

no supervision needed., makes great rice and keeps it warm after cooking for hours if needed. it's worth it if you eat a lot of rice and dont want to sit in front of a pot, despite what that one faggot says. im sure he'll be in here any minute now.

He won't use it. He will fucking destroy it and then give you the blank bug stare when asked about it.

Be prepared for people to eat your rice all the time and don't be surprised if you find people using it to cook other food with it and leave it filthy.

Put rice in, fill water to line, plug in rice cooker, presser button, press play walk away

>> No.18365445

Its a one trick pony. You can leave rice on the stove too without supervising it just set a timer. Rice cooker is for people who dont have 20 minutes to make rice and need a gadget that they can prepare in the morning and eat rice when they get home.

I once went to a Korean grocery store. They had an entire section with dozens of different brands and varieties of rice cookers. They even had a rice cooker salesman dressed in a suit and tie. The whole place smelled like fish. It was weird and alienating and I never went back.

Literally their purpose to be as easy as possible. Get one of those cheap rice cookers but if possible with a ceramic coating on the bowl.

I never said rice cookers are not competent at what they do. My point is simply that a rice cooker is not a necessity, even if you eat a lot of rice; it's a want, not a need.

75% of the shit we purchase is a want, not a need. Take your computer/phone and internet plan for example. Stop being a pedantic faggot.
