Justify the existence of pizza that is cut like this.

The center pieces make no sense. You can't hold onto one without your fingers getting greasy. It's messier when you scoop it out of the pan because of the cheese on all sides. It's messier to store, because eventually you have to grab it out of the bag and then your fingers get all greasy again.

Why cut pizza like this? Why? Why?

Ideally the short edge of the pizza should be short enough that you don't end up with middle pieces like that. There should only be a single cut down the center from short edge to short edge and then however many cuts from long edge to long edge to get the slice sizes you want.
