all the crust flavorings were removed because a pizza hut executive wanted to see how hard it was to make pizzas and cut them.
he found that the crust finishers were too time extensive despite the fact we always use a butter sauce on the stuffed crust.
so to reduce time on the cut table, flavored crusts are now gone. the worst part is the amount of complaints over the removal.

I remember back when they also had a balsamic drizzle topping. pizza hut has indeed gone on the downhill slide, especially in the last two decades.
I miss the parm crust the most, but now we can make it in-house for ourselves because corporate gave us shredded parmesan for the "new" pastas. we don't have the garlic butter sauce anymore though, just butter. It's all soybean oil flavored shit anyways.

essentially its what >>18344638 said. they cut costs to save cash. and it has been happening a lot recently. a few years ago they changed the formula of the dough to make the pizzas cook faster in the ovens. they have reduced the quality of our cheese atleast 2 times in the last 7 years that i can remember, going for a cheaper mozarella using skim milk. they changed the pizza sauce, choose a cheaper version with added sweetner to cover the flavor loss. its a lot of bullshit like that but mostly int he past 5-7 years
