When I was a young boy, I thought rice were maggots. I was resolute in this belief, until I was about 14. Then my family was allowed to eat rice, if they desired.

Bags of rice literally are infested with rice weevil larvae.
It's part of why if I ever eat rice I'll either get a personal sized one-off microwave pouch like Uncle Ben's or else just get it as part of a restaurant meal.
