Get the shrimp cocktail and order the large Heinekens in bottles. Once I stayed there for something like 6 hours getting drunk winning money and eating shrimp cocktails with Heineys. I think I set $20 that night! Burp! Its the skiveyest fucking place but if you follow my instructions you will call it home for all future visits

Wow, someone making a vegas thread that's actually staying downtown. Well that's my specialty. My recs:
Pizza Rock for happy hour or late night happy hour, cheap eats and good beers. If you go normal times and have a group to share my favorite pizza is the Michigan Avenue, Southside Chicago tavern thin crust style. You can also get pizza by the slice New York style. They have four different types of pizza ovens and recreate basically all popular styles and do so quite well.
Triple George next door for the lunch special if you want a nicer white table cloth dining experience for a good value.
Oscar's Cellar in the 4 Queens if you want an old school as fuck steakhouse type meal. I went here once by myself after winning a 10k jackpot and gorged myself on filet and seafood and still my tab was only 140 including some kick ass Manhattans.
Nacho Daddy for nachos and margaritas.
The Nugget itself supposedly has some good dining options but I never went to any because they're expensive and since I'm a downtown vegas fan I'm all about value. I did stay in a nugget corner rush Jr suite once though and it was pretty baller.
I haven't been since August 2020 so my recs may be dated but I think all of these places should still be there and the same.

Oh, one last one: Heart Attack Grill for the lulz. I only went once but I make it a point each trip to get on the scale they have out front and shout out 'liar!' at it. There was also a good Thai place lunch special on East Fremont but I forgot the name. It's not too far past El Cortez on the right.

Oh yeah, there's a hash house in downtown as well in the plaza. Never had their burger but the chicken and waffles are keen. I remember going once with a foodie friend and he said, "well I finally know what to do with leeks, just deep fry them". There's a location on the strip in the linq as well.

Not to shit on the other's suggestion but Slots of fun, as great as it is, is no where near where you're staying and downtown is full of places like it. It would be a nice place if you were staying northish strip but that area is kinda no man's land since the riviera closed.
As far as 'late night" how late do you mean? Every casino around you will have a 24 hour cafe. My favorite was the Triple Seven in Main Street Station, but it was closed when I last went during covid. From 2-7am they had good specials and a unique menu since they have lots of Hawaiian clientele.

That's kinda true but kinda bullshit. He's staying in downtown and all of that stuff is within 200 yards walking distance from his hotel. But yeah downtown has an unsavory element, but I've never felt unsafe. Most of the stuff I stated is just one block north of Fremont and you'll pass bums for sure. Hell you can stay under the canopy and there will still be bums, but that's just how downtown is. Hell, that's how the strip pedestrian bridges are too.
But to sum things up, you must be a pussy.
