if you really wanna try raw egg rice but dont like the idea of a completely raw egg, you can do another jap egg thing called hot spring egg and crack that on top too. its more welldone than not at all and less welldone than a softboiled egg. just barely set where the egg whites lose that goopy texture but still somewhat liquid. i dont think the west has a way to refer to this style of egg but there's a 'close enough' equivalent in sous vies eggs. during my stay in singapore, eggs made like this is served for breakfast with coffee and and their painfully sinful toast, so i would just called them kopitiam eggs; kopitiam the being a coffee shop there. look up any of these names for the methods to make it, it all should lead to the same place: onsen egg, sous vie egg, or kopitiam egg
