Eggs for lunch. You'll want to cycle how you eat them because they can get old fast if you don't love eggs.
-Scrambled/Omolette style
-Eggdrop in broth
-Medium boiled

Lettuce wraps for dinner.

Buy turkey breast by the pound. Prepare 5 days worth of it by brining it overnight and then baking it to temperature ( Joshua Weissman
has good video on how to do this on youtube). Cut it into deli style slices. Top with cheese and cucumber, salt, oregano, olive oil, and redwine vinegar. Optionally spread butter or homemade mayo for additional calories (storebought mayo is made with vegetable or seed oils which is pretty much industrial sludge). Wrap in iceberg or romaine lettuce. Should end up costing about $1-$2 per sandwich. Little more if you get more fancy with the toppings.

Avoid the trap of going carb heavy. Anything you save by eating carbs you'll end up paying back with low energy and future health problems. If you must eat carbs, eat rice. Anything flour based is one of the worst things you can eat for your health. Ideally you'd want to

>beans
>dried soy (not sure what it's called in English) - like brown granules
>some big ass jar of olive oil for cooking
>cheap cans of tomato sauce/crushed tomatoes
Just need spices like garlic powder, paprika, garam masala and so on. You can use 2 cups of lentils, cook them up in spices and oil and add some beef stock and water plus tomato sauce and make a "chili" and eat it with the rice. Same thing with the soy/tofu shit.
For special days you could get cheap chicken or even meat.

>1 kg of rice lasts a week if I eat 2 bowls a day
>1 cup (2.5 dl) of lentils or dried soy can be used for about 2-4 meals when made into a chili type of stuff, depending of the case.
Also bear in mind that even though this is 4chan, the dried soy granules have ~50 grams of protein per 100 grams of content and thus, it will be a lot cheaper than ground beef. Of course the amino acid profile isn't complete but I suspect you are not a bodybuilder or a professional athlete.

onions, potatoes, butter. some carrots or other cheap hard vegetable to break texture, use lard to dilute butter if on extreme budget. some cheap multivitamin once in few days. forget about meat, it's a once a week luxury from now on.
remember that it's carbs that makes you feel full. Potatoes are carbs of choice thanks to them containing most of essential aminoacids, but in non-appropiate proportions. them with butter can sustain you indefinetly, but you WILL loose muscle mass. replace with rice or pasta once in a while to stay sane.
don't hesitate to use msg, preferably some msg based "vegetable" spice mix. pretty much the only way to not go insane with low budget living.

It really depends on where you are, even which neighborhood because of your shopping options and living conditions. Most places you can get good flour, though. Learn to make your own bread and noodles. Seriously. Flour is dirt cheap, especially in bulk. You can easily make a large loaf of dutch oven bread for under $1, closer to $.50 if you go for the cheaper 50lb bags. Biscuits, crackers, flat breads, noodles, and dumplings (dropped or steamed), are all extremely basic ways to get the most out of flour as well. Buying things in bulk is the best way to get good quality for less, but that isn't so easy if you're in a tiny apartment by yourself, so consider bulk isles in stores for some stuff, but only ones that you trust don't have a bunch of assholes shitting up the bins. You can find a wholesale or restaurant supply store in most major cities in the US where you can get the staples that you'll go through fast enough to warrant bulk purchases. Look for sales and coupons, then plan your meals around that stuff. When you're going for sub $3/day, it's better to shop thrifty unless you're seriously OK with eating the same basic shit every day.

i shop once a month, i start at walmart then aldi, then publix then Winn Dixie. You just need to map out what you buy ahead of time, make a plan
and watch for sales at the end of the month (meat freezes just fine so load up when it cheep)

My list usually looks something like this(shopping for 3 people):
Milk 2x

sour cream
cheddar 16oz
mozzarella 16oz
eggs 24count
flour 5lbs
potatoes 10lbs
tomato sauce/paste 2x
salsa
chicken breast 10lbs
ground beef 10lbs
onions 5lbs
carrots
celery
lettuce
soy sauce

mayo

I'm genuinely curious

As far as I know, slow cooking generates more histamine and the lowest histamine method is by quick grill or stir fry. Which is why my meats are, barring occasions, stir fry chicken, and pan seared steak or fish.

Here’s my recipe for Mexican rice :

1.25 cups of rice
1/3cup of the the smallest tomato sauce
2 cloves of garlic
Chicken bouillon powder

>Heat up oil in the pot, wait till it gets really hot on medium high.
>throw in the rice and mix around, wait till the rice changes color
>throw in tomato sauce
>throw in chicken bouillon powder
>add garlic and stir everything until the tomato sauce covers all the rice.
>add water (follow your rice’s directions)
>throw lid on pot
>once water begins to boil, turn down the heat to the lowest setting that still allows a sizzle.
>let it simmer till there is no water left.
>open lid and mix rice around
>cover pot and let it sit for 10 minutes off the heat.

Anyways, that should make about 4 servings. I usually add some beans and a protein. Another cheap meal is 300g of potatoes with beans and a protein. You can buy canned beans, but to go even cheaper, you can make them yourself.

I also add chopped iceberg lettuce, onions, and cilantro to both these meals for additional flavor. The lettuce is really to add volume to the meal. You can get a head of lettuce for $1-1.50 and that will last all week for meals. The most expensive pet of these meals are the meat so you can be creative about what protein you add. You can do spam and eggs, although so low sodium, it tastes better. Spam has more fat then protein. Otherwise, I like to do chicken thighs since you can find them for about $3.99 a pound in my area. I eat about half a pound 8oz of chicken. For lunch, I do the potatoes with just 4 eggs. I add the cilantro and onions but exclude the lettuce. For breakfast, do old fashioned oats, peanut butter, salt, brown sugar. Simple meal but very filling. All in all, this is about 2200 calories worth of food with meals costing $5 or less per meal.

i'm speaking primarily in the sense that histamine production on meat happens on surface area, and whole muscle has a smaller and predictable surface area whereas ground has, by its nature, a vastly greater surface area. secondarily boiling reduces histamine levels in all meat and grilling/frying raises it, so using a pressure cooker which is boiling+pressure on tough cuts would allow him to reduce surface area, increase fat content, maintain $/lb, and further reduce histamine levels with cooking method.

histamine in legumes, vegetables, and fermented foods also rises with frying/grilling but does not reduce from boiling. it feels counterintuitive but that's how it shakes out in testing.

the same rule would apply to chicken as to pork here but commercial non-ruminant meats are equally poor quality and my calculation for helping him improve his lipid profile was predicated on not being able to buy coconut oil or grass fed tallow with which to cook the chicken

okay, I guess I'd better slow down. you seem like you're having trouble following the conversation.
>>18268346
In above post you can see that OP (that's "original poster" - the person who started the thread) asked for "the cheapest 'full' meal to live off of" and later reiterates "what's the cheapest meal I can make". So he's asking for a recipe for A MEAL that he can cook regularly to meet his daily nutritional needs.
In response to that request, you post a list of ingredients (linked below).
>>18268471
As part of the list you recommend he buy "1 head of lettuce or cabbage or broccoli". Now, to me that would imply that the lettuce, cabbage and broccoli are interchangeable because you used the word OR. they are serving the same function in whatever meal this is. this puzzled me because I couldn't think of a recipe where that would be the case. So I asked you "What are you making with this, exactly?" (See link below)
>>18276803
because, again, OP was asking for A MEAL. I also went on to specifically ask about the lettuce, for the reason I stated above but also because I was under the impression that lettuce was basically devoid of nutrients while cabbage and broccoli were nutrient rich. I have since learned that I was incorrect. So, my mistake.
Anyway, your response was to say that OP should "eat the greens raw or blanched" (see below)
>>18277104
the "greens", or green-colored vegetables, refers to the lettuce and broccoli. again, OP is asking for a meal and at this point in our conversation you still have not provided the name of a meal. now, for anyone who doesn't know, to "blanch" a vegetable means to briefly submerge it in boiling water in order allow the skin to fall off. I've done this to tomatoes in the past. anyway, lettuce and broccoli DON'T HAVE ANY FUCKING SKIN. SO WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU BLANCHING.

Thank you for taking the time to clarify
>OP was asking for A MEAL
I figured given his purposes better to give him a list of ingredients and let him figure out how he wants to consume it. A few combinations can be created, but I'm too lazy to detail them all. One simple menu is to make soup of all the vegetables, saute the chicken with seasoning of choice, and eat that over 2 meals with rice or beans or whatever.
>my mistake
S'alright. Personally I'd recommend broccoli, or spinach, but the item is only indicative. Priority is simply to throw some dark green leaves down OP's neck, for the vitamins.
>in order allow the skin to fall off
Wrong.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blanching_(cooking)
It's not merely a method to deskin tomatoes, blanching is also a popular method to lightly denature the fibrous cellular walls of vegetables while preserving flavour, texture, minerals and vitamins as much as possible.

Shocking in ice water is completely optional. Given proper timing, one can also remove the greens just before optimum doneness and let them finish cooking while cooling on it's own.

canned beans if no meat. meat is by far the biggest expense you have sadly. takes a long time to cook raw frozen stuff too. chix thighs are the best bet but they can take up to an hour

eggs for breakfast. wheat toast/oatmeal/peanut butter can be cheap. pick up some canned fruit for variety

lots of seasoning packets. old bay etc

its possible to eat pretty tasty and feel full for 200-250 a month. anything lower is difficult or horrifically boring or has zero meat
