Can we have a favorite cocktail thread? Just made a home bar and looking to try new drinks.
Mine is a Moscow Mule but instead of vodka I use bourbon. 1oz of lime juice and top with Ginger Beer.

I don't think you can go wrong with a rum and coke; it's good year round, pretty much impossible for anyone to screw up. Feels pretty nice sipping one at sunset in a coastal town.

Also, what you've described is sometimes called a Kentucky mule. I don't bring this up to try and correct you or anything; I just think it's really neat that cocktail names can be altered to reflect alternate liquor/mixer choices, as opposed to spelling out exactly what you want.

I don't drink anymore but my holy grail cocktail was one that I had at an upscale restaurant on mother's day about 6 years ago. It was a mezcal cocktail with some mystery ingredients that I just don't remember. It was some house specialty drink, not a standard named cocktail that I was familiar with. I've been off the sauce for 4 years but I'd start drinking again if someone prepared me that cocktail. I've since asked the staff at the restaurant if they remember what was in it, but the bartender changes the drink menus monthly and he just doesn't remember either.
It was smokey, fruity but not too sweet, and a little spicy. Was so fucking good bros and it's lost to time.

I recall something similar. A bar I frequented had at one point a special cocktail made with white beer and wine and a whole lot of other stuff added to it, tasted amazing. Then the guy who used to make it left and nobody has a clue on how to make it. Really good stuff, I tried making it myself, but I don't think I'm getting close.

If I had to guess it may have been pineapple juice and a jalapeño simple syrup because Ive had that exact thing at a couple places...juice would make it pretty sweet though so I think it could have been the Plantation Rum thats infused with pineapple rinds that tastes sweet but isnt, that way itll balance with the syrup.

classic martini, I do 2:1 with some citrus bitters
sazerac, I still like the common way with rye whiskey but I prefer the original way with cognac because we don't live in times of scarcity anymore.

I also do full absinthe service in summer and warm sake in the winter though neither of these are cocktails.
and speaking of absinthe whenever people are doing mimosa I bring absinthe and have death in the afternoon instead. My man Hemmingway knew the good and proper way to get fucked up.

Ive been having a margarita on a hot day after I get home from work - its a great drink to have up your sleeve. A large one I use 3 ounces white tequila, 1 and about 1/4 cointreau and about the same (maybe slightly more) lime juice. I have found that using a bit less tequila than the classic recipe works a bit better. Also dont experiment with sugar instead of salt around the lip - it doesnt work. Its a great drink for women guests and a lot less hassle than a daquiri

I got married recently and have consolidated my furniture and think that I have got a comfortable minimum of drinks for all purposes. It's really great having a stocked bar with all necessary utensils
