I went to Bкycнo и Toчкa today and here is my review.

Location: Nevsky Prospect in St. Petersburg

Restaurant Esthetics and Atmosphere: This location and other Bкycнo и Toчкa locations I have been to seem a little less crowded and less energetic than when it was McDonald's. The stores are missing alot of decorations because they were all McDonald's related and they haven't made new decorations. The posters advertising various burgers aren't as good as the McDonald's posters.

Food Taste and Quality: I ordered a Grand Deluxe, 6-piece chicken McNuggets and fries. Regarding the Grand Deluxe, everything was the same as before except the cheese seemed worse than what McDonald's used. They still put too much mayo on the burger like every single other burger place in this entire country. Russians put a fuckton of mayo and salad dressings on their burgers. The nuggets tasted the same except the texture of the meat was slightly different. The fries tasted the same.

Prices: It's much cheaper than before.

Verdict: I never liked McDonald's, but since Bкycнo и Toчкa is alot cheaper now, maybe I'll go here occasionally.

Not having a replacement would have put a bunch of local businesses under since the policy of McDonalds foreign subsidiaries is to contract local producers and suppliers. The local factory bakeries producing all their bread would be hard-pressed to find other outlets that matched the sheer amount of product they were producing for their McDonalds contracts, forcing them to downsize. Same with domestic beef farmers/meat packers, potato farmers, etc.
Basically McDonalds cut its contracts and some endeavouring businessman saw the gap and the desperation of its former clients. This isn't exactly an uncommon thing. When McDonald's left Iceland after its economic collapse, even though it only had two restaurants, someone swooped in and nabbed their old contracts to make a ripoff restaurant. Since McDonald's wouldn't touch their economy with a 1000km stick, they let it slide.

Not him but I lived in Moscow for 7 years. It's very easy to find shitty restaurants in Russia. The majority of the population has no sense of gastronomy. Most Russian food is prepared by people who never learned to cook anything besides it, which isn't a good thing since that just means they don't know how to cook. Boiled meat, boiled vegetables, mayo, etc and repeat in various combos and variations. Just walk into whatever stalovka has the meanest looking people inside and you'll find what you're looking for.

Lmfao, the company cut their losses and left everything behind to their foreign employees. There's a reason why these places were able to turn around and reopen so soon. All the Russian upper management was still there.
