I'm good with the dozen or so mammals, dozens of birds and likely hundreds of sea creatures I've eaten so far and don't need to really add anything new to that list.

america almost brought hippos over to have as livestock in lousiana and other swampy parts of the country. cows took a long time to adapt to the new conditions, but hippos would be at home.

they stopped when they realized it would be virtually impossible to lead hippos to the slaughterhouse.

i eat gator all the time. it has to be fresh or it's awful and fishy. lot of places freeze it for too long. fresh gator is more like chicken in flavor and kind of like a fried clam texture. best gator tail i've ever had was at a place called Gator Joe's in Ocklawaha
fried gator tail with a fresh squeeze of lemon is food for kings

Might have tasted kind of like shrimp or lobster or crab. They don't seem to have a big tail full of meat with just a line of intestine going through it though so you'd probably gut and butcher this thing similarly to a fish. Idk though maybe their organ cavity could have been small as well.

Fuck, I actually am a bit stumped on this one. At one point or another when I look at an animal, I wonder if they'd make some decent eatin', including people. I'd probably be ok with eating anything on land or the air other than bugs, and especially not arachnids. I'm ok with the vast majority of shellfish and crustaceans, as well as squid & octopi, and of course fish. I wondered for a long time why nobody eats those FUCKHUGE groupers, but then learned they taste horrible. I bet those critters that live around those deepsea vents would taste interesting, but they'd probably be toxic.
I really want to try extinct creatures like a moa or mammoth, which I hope would be possible in my lifetime.
I bet some cryptids would taste good. The chupacabra lives off a blood only diet apparently, might be tasty like veal.
