Problem with pizza is people want to eat it often, but not pay a lot so they settle for cheap chain shit. The way I like to eat pizza is maybe once every few months, but pay premium for the very best at reputable pizzeria.

These are probably two of the wrongest things I ever heard in my life.
I'm from Italy and every fucking Pizzeria works every day of the week and you alway have to book the best / small ones because they're always full. Pizza is the most sold food to go and I can tell, after a month of no-carb diet where I lost 8 kilograms, my first reward was picture related.
So no, pizza is a big deal in Italy and we have it far, FAR more than occasionally.

I guess the main difference in success is that Dominos is really fucking expensive if you get it delivered compared to most fast food. You can go to a subway and be satisfied with a £6 sandwich but with dominos it's like £22 for one pizza, unless you have some deals (or go sit in the store, but who does that, there's like 3 seats at best). It's at the price range now where you can go to a proper restaurant instead, and I imagine there's a lot of better choices for those in italy, and probably better pizza for cheaper anyway

I just go buy a few £ worth of their dipping sauce occasionally and get a far nicer pizza from a local place now, because that garlic and herb dip is great

well right now I'm still on my low carb diet so maybe 3 times a month now, but this winter before I went on said diet, probably brought at home 2 times a week, and that's excluding going to the pizzeria for dinner. because you can find pretty good pizza even at bakeries where bread is made, or even at groceries shop. It's really sold like bread anyway.

tl;dr maybe 10 times a month before diet.

The pizza in italy is cheaper at a local pizzeria that uses better ingredients and techniques than at dominos. When i was in rome the difference was like ~5 euros. Starbucks suffered the same fate, as a local cappuccino was 1.50 euros while starbucks likes to charge about 5. No italian would go there, never, under any circumstances.
