KFC chips have always had the best chips in Australia in my opinion. The only thing is they've always been hit or miss; sometimes they're soggy, sometimes there's not enough salt, sometimes there's too much salt, sometimes they're perfect. But when they're perfect they're the best. That said, a shit KFC chip beats a good maccas chip any day of the week.

Because McDonalds fries are unique and nostalgic, since they soak them in sugar water and put them through a bunch of other processes. They have a very specific taste unlike regular French fries, they’re extremely consistent and are always exactly the same, as such they transcend what a French fry is and become a very specific product of their own that you can’t get anywhere else. Popeye's fries are pretty mediocre and that's coming from someone who thinks their fried chicken is top tier.

Wendy's is only good when the staff remembers to actually season them. The employees at my local Wendy's forget to salt their fries more often than not.

I agree that McDonalds fries are overrated, though. Carl's Jr/Hardy's has the best fast food fries in my opinion. They actually have a decent amount of potato flavor instead of just tasting like grease.
