some sponges state cellulose. That's the right sponge material. Your call to do light duty or heavy duty scrubby on one side. Also, you will need a long handled brush or bottle brush, or both.

I'm a fan of copper scrubbers. Sponges get moldy too fast.

Don't use those use steel or cast iron.

"dobie"
they're yellow sponges wrapped in hard lpastic mesh, come in 2+ packs. they scour.
i'm a nitpick when it comes to cleaning cookware, i "pre-wash" everything but running it under water with watered down dawn soap to de-grease it.
my family was the type to just push a fresh sponge into a plate with some ranch dressing on it and still call it "clean".

Different tools for different jobs. I use all of:
>Dish brush
>Bottle brush
>Homebrand chux
>Homebrand scotchbrite
>Steel scouring ball
Probably 90% of my regular washing is done with the chux. If a plate's really dirty I'll use the dish brush to get the big bits off first, and if things are stuck on I'll use the scourers.

Thinking the same. I keep using the same plate, bowl and glass every time. Just keep them in the fridge, so they don't stink/grow mold.

Each time I pour hot food inside the bowl, new juices take old remains, and makes it taste really good.

They might be called something different where you are. The plastic semi-disposable cloths that you get in a big roll.
I use each one for a few weeks until it gets gross then throw it out and just tear off a new square.

>> No.18205754

>>18205312
The thing about these is that hot water softens the sponge and cold stiffens it which is backwards from what I want. If I'm using hot water it means I'm trying to get some really stuck on grime so I want the sponge to be harder, not softer. Probably a limit of the chemical makeup and not really a design flaw, but still a flaw nonetheless. I use those thin green scrub pads without any sponge attached.

what does semi-disposable mean? you can kind of throw it out?

>> No.18205974

>>18205962
You throw it out, but after a bunch of uses instead of just one.
Paper towel = disposable
Chux = semi-disposable
Tea towel = reusable

I fucking love the dobie. I tried showing my mom the way but she always ruins them. I always rinse out the food first with water and not spreading it all over and dirtying the damn sponge. Now I refuse to keep getting them because it hurts seeing them get all dirty. Theyre great miss my dobies.

I know them as handiwipes, which are a clorox product but the name stuck here. We used to use them a lot too but I was never a fan of the texture of that wet rag.
