Canned pasta, canned veggies, canned chili, if it could be canned, chances are it would be on your table at some point.

I grew up actually loving canned veggies for some reason. Canned peas, asparagus, spinach, those mixed veggies where the carrots were perfect cubes, all of it. And I liked Chef Boyardee well enough. As I grew older, though, I lost my taste for most of that stuff.

These frozen ones are better and they're easier to portion out without dealing with a can, slice the top open, pour some out, then reseal it with a binder clip then that goes back into the freezer.

i was shocked - SHOCKED - at c. age 11 when I discovered "fresh" spinach even existed. also shocked at how good fresh green beans were compared to cand.

the only veggies I've had worth a damn that are canned are tomatoes (for with to make soup and sketti sauce) and of course those wonderful zucchini chunks in tomato sauce. everything else is trash.

pasta and chili and soups can be quite good but it's hit and miss.

frozen veggies are the bees tits as long as you buy a decent brand that will lose all their customers if their quality falters. you buy home brand shit and you're getting pallid twigs and freezerburn

I dropped the rest of a can of beefaroni on the floor and cleaning that huge mess up made me realize just how disgusting that shit really is. It reminded me of vomit, especially the little pieces of meat in the sauce. And the smell lingered for days even under all of the cleaning which became gross. My years of eating chef boyardee are done.

i'm pretty sure I can put canned spinach to good use now that I know how to cook things, but not sure what. the tick will be to dry is as much as possible and maybe use it as a layer in lasagna or spread it on a pizza base before applying white sauce and cheese, etc.

THAT'S IT I'm buying a can of this shit this weekend and will post results of whatever I come up with. It won't be pizza or lasagna because I don't make nor do I enjoy either. I'll think of something and try not to make it horrible.

canned spinach is the one canned green I dont like due it being a staple in my mothers lazy excuse for cooking when she had one of the most piss easy part time jobs you could get for 30 years. it always tastes metallic and a touch too salty. I would typically just mix it with a can of tuna or chicken since they too are can flavored and salty and then add something like malt vinegar or tomato paste and little pinch of sugar to try and balance it out. raw white onion helps the best. strong flavor to drown out the awfulness of canned spinach.

yeah it's fucking horrid. i'm tempted to use it for a spinach alfredo this weekend but alfredo is a costly and delicious sauce and i would hate to ruin it. i think maybe i'll just make a plain white bechemel sauce with the spinach and use that a freezable base sauce to add things like cheese, tuna, etc. wheel see.

I don't like tinned vegetables excepting peas (which I only use to make a specific dish, otherwise frozen peas for me, please), corn and tomatoes in juice.
Tinned fish can be tits and tinned beans are nice in an emergency and I grew up on tinned beef in aspic. Everything else, I go for fresh, frozen or jarred, if possible.

Tinned beef in aspic is a quick lunch for any Italian. It's basically the lunch of summer, when it's too hot to cook but a nigga's gotta eat so yer mum opens a tin of carne Simmenthal, dumps it into a bowl or onto a plate, breaks it up with a fork and spritzes lemon juice over it and you eat it cold, as aspics typically are, with a green salad and good crusty bread.
And if you got enough Good Boy Points, you got a tin of carne Simmenthal that mooed.

whelp, it's the next day and it seems as though you cannot purchase cand spinach in my country BUT I did get a block of frozen chopped spinach for $1 which is amazing.

I made a garlicky cheezy bechamel with spinach and it's amazing. goes nicely with some slices of finely oiled tuna.

this whole dish cost maybe $4 and I have a sosspin of the cheezy spinach sauce to divvy up in the freezer.

would have been fun to experiment with the canned shit but at least I was inspired to make a nice meal
