I remember a couple of years ago there was a tweet which revealed the most popular dishes in the UK, and the replies were full of Americans weirded out that we eat bacon sandwiches.

Do Americans genuinely not eat bacon sandwiches? What do you actually do with the stuff?

It's mainly eaten on a plate, with eggs.

I started eating plain bacon sandwiches after binge watching fred dinnah videos..sometimes I'll nuke a slice of bacon for 45 seconds and eat it on white bread. sometimes I'll butter the bread. then I microwave some water for a cup of tea.

funnily enough though, Tomato Sandwiches are a thing, although not incredibly popular

I remember that thread. The big issue wasn't that brits were eating bacon sandwiches, it's that they were trying to defend how great their food was by choosing a pic of a bacon sandwich.

It was comical that the retort to everyone calling their food shit was to post a picture of a dry bacon sandwich with nothing on it. The whole situation really summed up how bad their food culture is since that was supposed to be an example of how good they can be and their defense was just so bland and basic.
